The Friends of Sanford, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit unit of the City of Sanford, NC that is raising funds to renovate the historic Sanford Depot. The renovated building will include a state-of-the-art Welcome Center along with offices and meeting space.

One Picnic, One Depot

Spend your Earth Day picnicking in the park! Order lunch or supper to-go boxes with a special menu prepared by these downtown restaurants: Cafe 121, Gigi’s Creations, Kathy’s Java Express, La Dolce Vita, Mrs. Lacy’s Tea Room, Mrs. Wenger’s Restaurant, Smoke & Barrel, and The Chocolate Cellar.

Where: Depot Park
Times: 11:30A-1P and 5P-6:30P

Boxes will cost $20 for lunch and $25 for dinner. There is a gluten free option for each meal and an option to order wine.

Bring a blanket to enjoy your meal in the park (social distancing requested) or take it to go. Gregg Gelb & the Heart of Carolina Jazz Orchestra will play for dinner guests. You can also make donations to the Sanford Depot Renovation Campaign while you’re there.

All proceeds will help fund the renovation of the Sanford Depot!

Kick-Off Event

Our first fundraising event was “One Table, One Depot,” a dinner fundraiser held in Depot Park on October 17, 2019 before Downtown Alive.

This community dinner was a dining experience created by Downtown chefs that was held right in Depot Park.

The evening started with the “All Aboard Sculpture Dedication” and featured music and entertainment.

This was the kick-off event for the Sanford Depot Renovation Campaign.
